One of the most difficult and painfully strenuous situations you can get into as a business owner or senior member of a workplace is the arrival of new recruits. Not only are they fresh in the industry and clueless, they also might not have the faintest idea about how your business operates. As a result, the learning process can be difficult, long, and might even end up as a failure if they don’t shape up and adapt.

But your new recruits aren’t the only ones to blame. There are many situations where it’s not the employee, but the employer that needs to shape up and provide the correct resources and assistance to a new recruit for them to flourish. Let’s face it, we’ve all been in that “new recruit” position before as a complete newcomer to a business and it’s not the most pleasant situation to be in, so here are a couple of ways to make that new recruit feel a little more comfortable and settle in better to their new job.

During your first day on the job, it can be very difficult meeting new people and trying to interact with them. This is because you don’t want to interrupt their work and you don’t want to give them the wrong impression. Help new recruits ease themselves into your workplace by offering them a helping hand. Extend your hand to them and greet them warmly on their first day and offer to help them should they need it. It’s important that you don’t try to overexert yourself and overwhelm them, just make it clear that you’re there if they need help and that you’re a reliable person.
