Keeping Your Office Free From Odors

Offices can become hot and muggy places since there are many people working in the same general area for many hours at a time. Especially during the peak of summer, offices can develop a strange and unpleasant odor. Your employees are focussing on working hard, getting you the best results possible and meeting deadlines, so smelling great all the time isn’t always their worry. Not to say that you should allow a staff member to relinquish their duties on personal hygiene, but when employees are working all day long and doing overtime to work late into the night too, you can’t expect someone to go home shower and put some new clothes on. You are where you are and you must meet the task at hand head on when it comes to fixing issues, speaking with clients and dealing with customers. But all this doesn’t mean you must surrender the hygiene of your office. If you did it would be a working environment that wouldn’t be very nice and may even cause workers to lose concentration from time to time. Keeping your office odor free is not that difficult at all.

Free to waft through

Don’t buy trash cans that don’t have a lid. You never know what kind of rubbish is being thrown in them. A normal office could have a half eaten piece of fruit, several balled up pieces of paper, dust and dirt, crumbs of food and an empty soda can in it. All of this will mulch into one strange stew that will create a smell. Rotting food is perhaps the biggest culprit in office trash cans that causes a rancid stench. You can avoid the problem of these smells wafting through your office buy buying bins that have a pressure opener that lifts the lid. This literally keeps a lid on things and doesn’t allow the unpleasant molecules to enter into the air and spread all around your office.

Hang em’ high

Much like in a car, just hanging some pleasant smelling up can keep your office smelling fresh. Consider getting yourself some custom air fresheners which you can design in terms of its own fragrance. Choose from over 20 different custom fragrances which you can use to mix and concoct your own unique smell. If you want something that reminds you of summer such a meadow and or mixed fruits, then you can have that hung around your office when the weather is down. You can hang up these fresheners around the office so all angles are covered and there’s one consistent smell that encompasses your office. No matter where you are whether it’s a part of the office that has a lot of equipment or just a humble meeting room, one odor will be consistent.

Clean without disruption

Offices are regularly cleaned. They need to be because many things are done at workstations. Your employees might eat their lunch where they sit and continue to work, they might spill a drink or perhaps heaven forbid, not wash their hands after they use the toilet. All of these things can create an environment whereby there is a chance of harmful bacterias growing and growing unchecked. However, when you do clean the office try to do so without products that smell industrial. You know the smell you get in hospitals? This is something you don’t want from your office so avoid using chemicals that have a toxic smell to them. Lemon or citrus based cleaners work just as well for any task but they leave behind a weak but fragrant smell that won’t make people hold their nose while sat at their desks.

Leave it open overnight

A good way to simply reset the odor of your office is to leave the windows open during the night. When the office is empty and nobody is there to feel the chill of the cold night, open up the windows so the foul odors can be released. Make sure it’s not just one side of the office that has it’s windows open, you need to create air flow so opening up windows on opposite ends of the office will achieve this. Once the odor has been neutralized you can start again and create an office that smells nice.

Horrendous odors in an office can distract your employees from their tasks. It’s almost not humanly possible to sit still in an environment that wreaks so bad, so give your employees a break and get some custom air fresheners that you can hang all over the place. Don’t get trash cans without a lid on top, this just allows any kind of odor to waft around freely.
