But everyone out there has a boss inside them. You have some air of authority about you, as well as an innate charisma, even if you don’t think you do. Everyone is an expert in their own field, after all! So let’s try and make sure you feel up to the task of being the boss.

Get to Know Your Staff
First and foremost, being able to recognise and respect the people around you is key to being a good boss. It means you’ve got a friendly and approachable demeanour, in and out of the office, and that’s something every employee wants from their employer. The workplace shouldn’t be scary to walk into, remember that.
So make sure you get to know the people who work for you, and that you’re someone who’s fair in the interviewing room. You want people to respect your new company, and to take it seriously, and giving off stern and firm vibes isn’t always the best way to become the boss.
It’s going to make networking a lot easier to handle as well! Because if you’ve got an aura around you that naturally draws people in, because you make an effort to open up your body language, people will absolutely come over to find out about you.
There’s Always a Course to Attend
Once you’ve got the persona you want down, it’s time to brush up on your skills, and make sure you feel as polished and ready as you can be. Of course, jumping in with both feet at the deep end is going to be the best practice, but there’s no harm in making sure you know what to expect first.
Which is why a bit of Corporate Training here and there probably wouldn’t go amiss. It’s an investment in you, and in your company, and that’s what you’re looking for right now! If you get the lingo down, and know how best to proceed forward, you’re going to find the challenge of a startup a lot more manageable. Being the boss often means you do what’s best for your company, and there’s no harm in a little studying beforehand, if it means those fraudulent feelings ebb away.
Being the boss requires all kinds of skills, and you’re going to learn as you go. Make sure you can slough off those doubts, and do your best work whilst you’ve got the drive and ambition to do so!
