For many businesses, their sales team are absolutely crucial to success. Maybe you sell something that’s a little more specialized, or isn’t the kind of thing that people wouldn’t just stumble upon and buy on the off chance. Therefore having a fantastic team who can get out there and inform clients and customers what you’re about is key. For salespeople to do their job well, there are certain things that they might need and that you as the boss can supply. Here are just a few of them.
A Vehicle
You have an incredible salesperson with a great track record, and the potential to earn you a lot of money for your business. But they don’t have their own car, what do you do? Perhaps they have a car, but it’s old and unreliable. Breaking down could put your business in jeopardy, where they’re missing important meetings (through no fault of their own). Providing a company car could be the answer. It looks more professional and allows them to get where they need to be without issues. While there are pros and cons to weigh up, it could be essential for some businesses. If the car doesn’t have a built-in sat nav, this is also something that would come in handy for getting around.
A Good Quality Smartphone
As a traveling salesperson who is up and down the country, a smartphone is an essential piece of kit. While just about everyone has their own these days, most peoples will be full of distractions. Personal messages and calls, games and social media can cause even the best workers to procrastinate! Providing a phone they can use within their working hours allows them to keep in contact with the office and customers when needed, access the internet and any other resource they need. A good quality portable charger or in car charger to ensure they’re always powered up and ready to go is another thing to consider.
A Laptop or Tablet
Do your salespeople need to give presentations or show information to customers? A laptop or tablet could make their life far easier than trawling through paper documents. Plus if they need to do any work when they’re on the go, it’s easy to type up emails or other documents from a coffee shop or other wifi hotspot. If you go with a light, portable machine with a good battery life, it will make it easy to get around. An industrial USB flash drive is useful for transferring information over and keeping data safe, so could be another piece of tech to consider. Don’t forget a good protective casing to keep everything free of bumps and scratches.
When your salespeople have access to the right equipment, it makes them more efficient and makes your company look more professional too. It’s an upfront cost getting the right equipment but is sure to boost profits and help your business in the long run.
