If you’re starting up a new business, make sure you’re buying everything you need to stock out your office. Buying essentials will make a massive difference to how effective your business will be. Ensure your colleagues have easy access to everything they require. Taking time and spending money from the off will ensure things start out well. First impressions are important. You don’t want clients thinking your business isn’t up to scratch. Here’s a checklist of considerations you’ll want to make.
MAKE THE SPACE WORK
Assuming you already have an office space lined up, you’re going to want to make the most of it. Take measurements and draw up a plan of what you would like and where it should go. Make the most of any windows and ensure your office is as spacious as possible. Cooping your team up in the dark will do nothing for moral. Think also about which layout would most benefit the work you’ll be doing. If you’re planning a storeroom, ensure it’s accessible to everyone. Reflect on how big each workstation needs to be for your colleagues to be able to work efficiently.
DESKS AND CHAIRS
Once you’ve gotten to grips with the size of your office space, decide which desks you want to buy. Smaller desks might seem logical for saving space, but they’re rarely practical. Look at desks with plenty of storage space. Your colleagues are going to need places to keep their work projects, stationery, etc. Don’t crowd your colleagues. Take time with choosing comfortable chairs, too. Bear in mind that yourself and your colleagues are going to be sitting in those chairs for long periods. Padded seats are a must, and adjustable backs are best for comfort.
ELECTRONICS
No office is complete without electricals. The most important thing to consider is which computers you’ll be using. Are you going to supply each desk with a desktop and computer, or are you planning to provide laptops? Desktop computers are less common in modern offices. While they have their perks, laptops are more practical in a lot of ways. Take a look at both and consider which would most serve your business. You’ll also need to find an office printer. Consider a printer that offers everything your office will need. Many industrial printers will also photocopy and scan. These are essential features in any office environment. Think, too, about investing in industrial ink refill. Ink can be expensive, and you’re sure to be using a lot of it. Get stocked up and make sure you don’t run out.
STATIONERY
Last but by no means least, stock up on stationery. You’re going to need a supply of paper, as well as pens, staplers and hole punches. It’s worth stocking up on additions such as paper clips and plastic folders as well. Not having these essentials will hold back your office productivity. Make a list of everything you need, and make sure you buy in bulk. You don’t want to run out of these.
