Don’t be tempted to step into the business game without looking into marketing. You may be tempted to be some kind of ethical maverick and try to do without marketing because you think it’s evil. Sorry, friend: marketing is absolutely necessary if you want to increase your sales. And you need to make sure you’re working with the right marketing professionals when you do this. Stronger customer interaction

The way you interact with a customers is extremely important. It’s not just important for getting a sale from someone you’re talking to directly. It’s also important because people pay more attention to this sort of thing from an outside perspective. Consider social media. More people expect you to interact without customers using social media. This means that your interactions could possibly become more circulated than ever before. Some may see this as a curse. Create something there’s actual demand for

This seems so obvious, right? It’s so obvious that I nearly erased that subheading and went with a different point. But this one is too important to turn away from. It’s also way too frequently ignored to ignore! The fact is that the market is flooded with hundreds of new products every week. How many of them succeed? Not very many. It’s because hundreds of businesses out there still haven’t got it: if there’s no demand, no-one’s going to buy it. Even if it’s something people don’t know they want, that in itself is a type of demand. (This is often referred to as “filling a gap”.)

Get some reviews out there

Your product or service really could be the best thing out there. But how are people supposed to know that if there isn’t any evidence of it? Getting customer reviews online is one of the most important steps to getting more sales. But actually getting those reviews is easier said than done! Whenever you serve someone, you should include a polite request to leave some feedback about their experience. You could also consider sending out samples in exchange for (honest!) reviews. Choose a better name

This might seem like a silly suggestion. But it’s possible your product name – or even your company name – just isn’t that attractive. There really is much more to a name than a lot of people think, especially in the world of business. Try doing some more research and brainstorming sessions.
