One of the things that a lot of start-ups can sometimes forget is where their new business is going to be located. What sort of business premises are they going to be working out of? With that in mind, here are three things to consider when choosing a business premises.
Location
Location is key. You need to consider whether the place you are looking to start your business is fit for purpose. If this is an office, then is it somewhere that clients can come and visit easily and what kind of impression will it give to them? You don’t want to start your business-based company somewhere that is more suited to something like a mechanic and vice versa. You don’t want to start your company in a location that makes performing your work difficult. If most of your work will involve travelling around the city, then you need to be in the city. You want the location to be a bonus and help your business, not hinder it. When picking the location, it is worth considering all of these points and taking your time to pick the perfect place.
Quality
The quality of premises can vary wildly. You want to make sure that the place where you are planning to establish your business is safe to work from. You should also make sure that they you understand what your responsibilities are for the premises. Do you need to hire cleaners or is that included in the price? If you are in a nice office block that looks neat and tidy, then it is going to give a great impression. If you are in somewhere tatty and that looks messy, then they are going to get an entirely different impression.
Price
Obviously, all of this eventually comes down to price. If you want the best location and the best price, then you are going to have to pay for it. The cost of your premises needs to be in the business plan, your financial planning and your budget. If it isn’t, then you are going to need to reconfigure things so that it is – otherwise, you won’t have anywhere to work from. When it comes to price, don’t forget to haggle and try to get the price down as low as possible with as many additional things thrown in for your benefit. You need to strike that balance between an affordable premises that is in a good location and is of a good quality. This might be challenging at first, especially for a new company. However, if you stick with it, then you will eventually find a brilliant premises where your business can grow and flourish.
